Vicki was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois and moved to Texas after completing her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Illinois. Vicki reconfirmed her faith in 2016 while attending Liberty University to obtain her master’s degree in professional counseling. She is a retired teacher and veteran with the US Army with over 30 years of experience working with people of all ages in a variety of settings including public education, the military, and health and wellness industry. Her personal philosophy in life is that God provides each individual with gifts and talents that will ultimately serve His intended purpose – to help other people.
When God created people, His intent was for us to be in relation with others and love one another as Jesus does. Using evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness-based therapies, Vicki believes every person has potential to become their best self in all situations and relationships. She also uses solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and faith-based therapy to enhance the healing process and help individuals to feel empowered to solve personal issues.
In November 2017, Vicki joined the Abiding Hope Christian Counseling agency and completed her practicum and internship experience. During this time, she worked with children, adolescence, adults, families, and couples experiencing depression, anxiety, bereavement, post-traumatic stress, sexual assault, physical and emotional abuse, bi-polar, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders, personality disorders, work-related and relationship issues. Vicki believes the therapist-client relationship plays a crucial role in the healing process regardless of the mental health issue in which the client seeks help. Connecting with the client and providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere to discuss concerns that make him or her feel vulnerable are key attributes. Vicki strives to take an empathetic, client-centered approach to therapy strengthening the relational bond.
Christ is ultimately the Counselor of all who believe in Him. As a therapist, Vicki is a vessel in which God works to achieve healing. The word of God is to trust Jesus Christ and know He is always with His children through the Holy Spirit. The power of prayer is unimaginable! Through prayer and meditation, all things are possible. Being spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically fit are essential components in fighting off the enemy. Vicki is passionate about whole-person healing and embraces the principle philosophy of Abiding Hope Christian Counseling.
