Hi, I am McKenzie Woods, being a therapist is very meaningful to me. I am passionate about my work with children, adolescents, and their families. I am also a Christian counselor which means I use God and faith to help you heal, restore, connect. In my
work with children and adolescents I believe in focusing on the parent-child relationship while helping families grow and heal together. During therapy, I utilize a combination of approaches and techniques that all revolve around a person-centered approach that encourages clients to make healthy choices that can positively change and impact their lives.
I am also a certified Daring Way Facilitator, which I incorporate Brene Brown’s work into my counseling sessions. Through this work we will focus on courage building, shame resilience, and uncovering the power of vulnerability. We will examine thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that hold us back as we identify new healthy choices and practices that encourage us toward more authentic wholehearted living. I believe in connecting with my clients while helping them connect with themselves and the Holy Spirit. My goal in counseling is to help families identify their values, relationships, while spiritually connecting with one another through Christ.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, depression, family conflict, and trauma. I received my Master of Education in Counseling from Tarleton State University, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with a certification as a Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapist. My husband and I have two beautiful, wild spirited boys, I have learned that parenting can be more complicated as well as stressful than expected and sometimes we need to seek help from a professional. My desire is to glorify God and to be an instrument to accomplish His will in people’s lives.
