Monthly Message From Ginger

January 2006:

2005 was a year of both professional and personal growth. Professionally, I leaped by faith and went into private practice full time responding to God's instruction that "Christians need Christian counselors who take insurance." As always, following God's will for your life leads to blessing. My practice stays full and productive. Many have come to my counseling practice and realized that God did indeed want them to have an abundant life. Clients have found abundance and freedom b dealing with their past through grieving, and then forgiving those who have wounded them. Though painful, none would say it isn't worth it!

Personally, I experienced this same blessing when my siblings and I met for a weekend in Dallas in April of '05. It had been more than 25 years since we had all been together. For one reason or another we had each been estranged from at least one sibling. After many tears of grief, there was forgiveness and rejoicing in what the power of God is able to do. It has been an incredible year!

One of the ways that God often helps with our healing is to remind us the blessings He has given us. I encourage clients to put together what I call a "Good Stuff" book. It is essentially a journal with four categories that totally focuses only on good stuff. These four categories are: positive affirmations (or positive words someone says to us), positive experiences (we might set a boundary that gets respected and we feel good about it), personal growth (these are aha! moments where we realize we have changed our thinking about something) and "power presents" (blessings like thank you God for my children, thank you for keeping me safe). By keeping our minds focused on "good stuff" we can keep our eyes on the God who loves us and wants the best for us.

May 2006 truly be your best New Year!!
