Monthly Message From Ginger

October 2005:

I had no idea when God told me in October 2004, "Christians need Christian counselors who take insurance", exactly what He was going to do. I thought I would begin to build up my private practice and within a year have a thriving practice. God had a different plan. (Doesn't He usually? "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days, if you pray, I will listen." Jeremiah 29:11-12).

Since officially leaving the Bair Foundation, I have hit the ground running. I officially began to be in my office full time May 31, 2005. I had filled 25 slots and began to open more. I now see 31+ clients each week! God has introduced me to a Christian psychiatrist in the city who contacted me (this is unheard of in our profession) and a pastor's wife. Both of them were looking for someone to send Christians to who is not just a counselor who is a Christian, but a Christian counselor. The difference being one who happens to be Christian and the other is one whose focus of practice is Christian principles based on the Bible. In addition, Focus on the Family, who has had my name for years has begun regularly referring people. God has truly enlarged my territory as I asked when I prayed the prayer of Jabez in January of 2005. I am incredibly blessed!! I don't take it for granted. He gets all the glory!! Anything good I do, I do because He is in me.

I also take my responsibility very seriously. I pray daily for wisdom (James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him). I also pray for the specific needs of each client that I see. I have asked for a prayer covering for myself and my family after I realized how vulnerable to satanic attack I am as I do the Lord's work (my credit card machine, computer, and car all developed problems in one week!!). I have had my office prayed over and anointed so that as I minister to others in the name of Jesus, I can work unimpeded by the enemy.

God has begun an incredible work at 14310 Northbrook with a servant who was once a very damaged little girl. I cannot wait to see what all He is going to do in the years ahead! Check in every month or so for an update!!
